Should I Hire a Podcast Manager?
You’ve started your podcast and now, it's been running for a while. You love doing it but sometimes you just don’t have enough time in a week with your personal life and business to do it all. That is where a podcast manager comes in! If you don’t know what a podcast manager is, read our blog on it here. A podcast manager can make a big difference for your podcast. So, today, we are covering whether you should hire a podcast manager yourself!
Why Should I Hire a Podcast Manager?
There are an abundance of reasons why you should hire a podcast manager such as:
get your time back
take the post-production off your hands and help you to stay consistent with your show
get an expert on podcasting
But sometimes the benefits you get don’t mean you are ready to have a podcast manager. There are some questions to ask yourself:
Do you have the funds to be able to outsource these tasks?
Are you ready to outsource?
What do you love to do with your podcast and what tasks do you want to pass off to someone else?
For the most part, a podcast manager is a great addition to your show to be able to provide editing, show notes, graphics, guest support, and more. But we don’t always have the means or are quite ready to take that next step. So, take the time to consider what you are looking for with support and do some research!
Tips for What to Look For
You’ve checked off all the boxes and answered the above questions so now you are ready to start researching and figuring out what podcast manager you need.
Take inventory of all the tasks that you do for your podcast and decide what you would like to continue doing and would like to hand over. Also, think about your monthly budget. Depending on what tasks you want to outsource, the price range can vary. But for an idea, for 4 episodes a month with full audio editing, scheduling, show notes, and social graphics can range from $600-$1200+ a month.
You may have fewer episodes or need different tasks so this could be even lower (or higher) depending on what you are looking for.
Now, it’s time to look around and figure out what podcast manager fits your needs best.
If you are in a certain niche, that may be an important factor for you. For example, you have a business coach podcast and you are looking for someone with business coach podcast experience.
Depending on the tasks you want support with, you'll want to make sure to find someone who covers all the things you need help with. Some podcast managers offer guest management, video editing, social media support, and more.
You’ve figured out what kind of help you are looking for but where do you find someone?
Where to Find Podcast Managers
There are a few different ways that you can find a podcast manager that fits your needs.
First, check out our website and see if we could be a good fit to work together!
Check out the hire form from a program I took as I began my podcasting support journey, The Podcast Manager Program. Lauren and the women in this program are incredibly helpful and good at what they do. If you are looking for something specific, this is always a great place to start and submit a request!
If you are looking for just audio editing or something that fits your budget a little more, Fiverr or Upwork can be good options for help.
Another thing to consider is if you already have friends in the podcasting industry, see what they are doing or who they know! They may have a podcast manager themselves they can suggest or a recommendation.
And last, social media can be a great place to find podcast producers and managers. Take a quick search with the term or in hashtags and see who you come across. Also, feel free to check out our Instagram as we follow a bunch of different support for the podcasting world!
