4 Reasons You Need a Podcast Website (& tips on what to include!)

For many business owners, you may already have a website up and running for your services or products. However, have you ever thought about having a website for your podcast? It also doesn't have to be a full-blown website, you could do just a landing page to help give your podcast its own place to live on your site.

This way you can take advantage of the benefits of having your listeners access your podcast website. Follow along as we go over a podcast website, reasons to have one, and tips at the end for what to include in yours!

What is a podcast Website or Landing Page?

A podcast website is a place where you keep all your information regarding your podcast. It's a great hub for your listeners to access all the details they may need from:

  • episodes

  • show notes and blog posts

  • resources from episodes

  • details about events and upcoming important dates

  • newsletter sign up

  • merchandise sales

  • Freebies

  • Link to your donations + paid stuff (send a coffee, PayPal, etc.)

  • If you need to gather fan submissions or other submissions from listeners

  • Give more details about yourselves as hosts + people plus contact information

The list can go on and range depending on what kind of show you have but this is a good basic starting point. Either way, having a website is important because it gives your listeners access to questions and details they will be looking after the show (or when trying to find a show to listen to!) You want to give them a reason to stay and listen!

4 Reasons to Have a Podcast Website

1. Improve your Podcast Visibility

Having a website for your podcast can really help improve your online visibility and presence. With your website or landing page, you can...

  • Utilize SEO + Keywords to help make it easier for Google and other search engines to sort and find your show

  • Share your website content on Pinterest as a pin. Episodes, blogs, and show notes are great starting points to help access Pinterest's large audience

  • You are able to access a larger community of people who prefer the written word, could be hard of hearing, or even prefer videos.

  • Another way listeners can share your show is through your website (you can add links + share buttons on your content)

2. An all-in-one for your Podcast!

A website is also an all-in-one for your show. You are able to keep everything regarding it in one place so your audience has one resource to access everything they need to know. Some benefits of your all-in-one are...

  • You own your own content (unlike Instagram or another social channel) what's on your site is yours and it won't just be deleted if something were to happen.

  • It's a place to keep everything from your about me, episodes, resources, show notes, blogs, merchandise, and more. When your listeners want to know something they know they can go to your website to get their answers vs searching around to find it.

  • Plus, if you have a business on top of your podcast then the podcast site can help lead them to your business services + products. It helps lead them to the next step you may want your listener to take.

3. Promote your Podcast to Monetize

Your website or landing page is also another great source for promoting your Podcast. You can utilize multiple different monetization ways through your website. These things can include...

  • Ads/Affiliate links for products and sponsors you work with

  • Add donation links + buttons (such as PayPal, Patreon, or "buy me a coffee")

  • You may offer a subscription or membership-type set-up that you can access through your site. This allows people to pay extra and get premium/additional content.

  • A spot to help promote your merchandise + services

4. Connecting with your Listeners

Finally, another great reason to have a site for your show is to connect with your listeners. Some things you could include:

  • Have a place where they can submit suggestions, questions, or ideas for episodes and the show itself

  • You are able to link your email and social channels in case they do want to reach you that way.

  • Include a contact form for another way to get in touch with you

Just having another form of connecting with you can really help build your trust with your audience. They know they can reach out and get in touch with you when they need it!

What to Include in your Podcast Website

Now that you are convinced to start a page for your podcast, let's make sure you have everything that you need. Below is a quick checklist of pages you should have included for a basic website (so at minimum these should be there). If you are more established or have a different type of show - you may have more pages, fewer pages, or even a variation of them.

  • About you + your podcast page

  • A page with all your episodes (that way they can find ALL of them)

  • Also an episode page for each of the above episodes (that way there is a place they can listen to + view all the details like show notes and resources from a specific episode)

  • A page for your membership/subscription or any other paid option you may have (Patreon/donation)

  • Blog (if you do show notes and don't want to write blog posts, you can ignore this)

  • Contact Page (want to be able to connect with your listeners!)

Conclusion

With these 4 reasons to start a podcast website plus the tips to help you get started, I hope you take a chance and make one (even if it's just a landing page)! Having access to all your essential information on your podcast, other than social media, will make a huge difference in growing a community and building your listeners.
